The Opportunity

Manulife’s Emerging Markets team in Asia is responsible for driving and enabling the execution of the six strategic focus areas of Emerging Markets Bold Ambition (EMBA) strategy across six Emerging Markets (EM) – namely Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam.

As a key member of the EM team, you will support the General Manager (GM) of the EMs and the team head to drive the management and delivery of financial and non-financial performance of the EMs, analyse financial and operational data to manage performance and facilitate reporting and decision making. You will be accountable for the EMs’ general accounting and reporting through timely and accurate service and is expected to deliver timely reports and analytics to help achieve the Emerging Markets Bold Ambition.

You will also need to be familiar with financial systems architecture, data and its structure, and also should have strong business acumen focused on Finance which will allow you to create meaningful insights in support of the business.

We are looking for someone with:

• Minimally a degree related to Business or Finance
• Possess around 5 years of working experience in total, with 3 years directly related to a finance / analyst role
• Skilled in Power BI and Excel tools
• Possess good business acumen

Nice to haves:

• Proficiencies in advance analytics tools
• Actuarial background

Detailed responsibilities:

• Develop financial and strategic insights through in-depth data analysis
• Evaluate business requirements, identify sources of data, and use business intelligence tools (e.g.; Power B.I.) to create analytically rich solutions to critical financial questions.
• Develop standardized reports, dashboards and self-service access to critical financial information for individuals across all the functional groups within Manulife
• Financial and operation analysis
• Partner closely with the Finance teams, understand their data needs and build plans to address those with intelligent data solutions in a timely and sustainable manner.
• Deliver data solutions that tell a story and provide insights to the users, enabling them to make better and efficient decisions.
• Develop analytically rich solutions that help us both understand what has happened in the past, and help us predict what will happen in the future.
• Provide monthly business update to Emerging markets GMs for business review meeting.
• Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analysing actual results with plans and forecasts; work closely with the regional and business units’ finance team to ensure accurate reporting and decision support
• Analyse financial and operational data and perform variance analysis to identify future trends and make recommendations for improvements
