The Investment Counselor (IC) Team Lead is a senior managerial role within Citi Private Bank. The duties of this role are divided across three functional areas:
I) Manager – The incumbent will be responsible for leading a team of senior Investment Counselors in the delivery of investment advice and execution within an assigned region. They will be accountable for not only the financial performance of their assigned market and team, but also for ensuring that all team members are held to the highest ethical and compliance standards, and for fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion. This will involve talent acquisition, as well as providing ongoing feedback, motivation, coaching, and mentoring for direct and matrix-reporting employees. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a flexible approach are critical to leading a diverse team of senior professionals with a wide range of experience.
II) Partner – The IC Team Lead will serve as a critical partner for various product groups across Citi, and will be closely aligned with the Global Market Manager (GMM) to develop and execute upon medium- and long-term strategic business objectives for the assigned market. In-depth knowledge of the market and industry, including familiarity with direct competitors’ products/services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the overall business.
III) Individual Producer – As the most senior member of the Investment Counselor team, the Team Lead will have direct coverage responsibility for several of the largest and most complex relationships within the market, often in close coordination with other lines of business and/or across global regions. This role requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the different systems, theories, and terminology relevant to various financial markets as well as practical experience operating through multiple business cycles. Excellent presentation and communication skills are a requirement for this role in order to influence a wide range of audiences, including large group presentations and events.
