The Regional Data Governance Lead drives a data management discipline and culture that values information to support Citi’s business strategies. The Data Governance Lead partners across global, regional and local businesses and other stakeholders to establish standards and improve data quality that fuel opportunity, innovation, business value and competitive advantage. The Data Governance Lead supports Asia CEO by ensuring our business and enterprise data quality goals are achieved in a manner that leverages the best practices and sound procedures expected of a global, systemically important financial institution.
The roles and responsibilities of the Data Governance Lead include:
Lead the communication of the data governance vision, strategy, approach and focus to the region and countries.
Partner with stakeholders across different business sectors, General Functions, Operations and Technology to drive data quality improvements and meet the data quality key performance indicators.
Create awareness and increase adoption of the data governance framework in the region.
Drive the rollout of global data management and data quality initiatives.
Initiate and manage regional projects as needed to deliver systemic improvements to regional data quality.
Address regular updates to regional senior management on the state of data quality across the region and ongoing data quality improvement initiatives. Escalate key risks and issues for attention, where required.
Oversee the adoption and compliance with key data governance policies by the regional and local entities. Provide effective challenge to the data governance officers and business management as they implement the data governance policies within the region.
Provide consultancy for data management to support local management engagements with local regulators.
Provide subject matter guidance and in-region support to local regulatory implementations, e.g. BCBS-239.
Good knowledge of financial data, a comprehension of regulatory, compliance, risk management and financial management concerns.
Detailed understanding of the overlap and synergies of Risk, Finance, Compliance and Business Data
Good understanding of the regulatory environment in financial industry and local regulatory requirements
Broad and comprehensive understanding of the latest technology trend and applicability, e.g. big data, insight analytics, text mining, graph technology, artificial intelligence
Ability to drive a data culture throughout the organization through influence and no direct authority
Good business acumen and technology understanding to provide leadership of practical approach to data management
Ability to establish good relationships with regulators, senior management, global and regional stakeholders
Ability to engage the right stakeholders to improve / enhance the existing governance and processes for the effective implementation of the local regulatory requirements
