Legal and Compliance Department

The Legal and Compliance Department (LCD) manages the legal and regulatory compliance risks, and partners with the business to ensure that legal and regulatory issues and risks are identified, assessed and dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our Compliance Division as a Compliance Officer on a 1 year contract.

Responsibilities

• Perform compliance controls to implement policies in GIC’s Compliance Manual and Code of Ethics, including the Chinese Wall Policy, Personal Investments Policy, Gifts and Entertainment Policy, and Conflicts of Interest Policy.
• Perform periodic monitoring and follow-up on any potential violations relating to employees’ personal investments and the receipt of gifts and entertainment.
• Perform communications surveillance and escalate any exceptions or red flags for further review and follow-up.
• Support the Compliance Division in the periodic review and refresh of the list of Relevant Entities that are subject to financial crimes compliance screening.
• Provide advisory support on Compliance policies, e.g. the Personal Investments Policy, Gifts and Entertainment Policy etc.
• Support Compliance’s monitoring of position limits in exchange traded futures and options contracts globally and notify stakeholders of any new or changes to existing position limits.
• Support the Compliance Division in system enhancements for the implementation of Compliance controls, including performing user acceptance testing and working with the Technology Group to resolve any system related issues.
• Prepare and review monthly Compliance reports for senior management.
• Support the Compliance Division in the implementation of regular and ad-hoc Compliance training, including the organizing of training sessions, tracking and registering training attendance.
• Provide administrative support for the Compliance Division, including but not limited to processing payments, organizing meetings etc.

Requirements

• Degree holder, preferably in Accounting, Business, Finance or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant Compliance experience, candidates with experience in Operations, Finance, Audit and Middle Office functions in the financial services industry are also welcome to apply.
• Good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong team player.
• Diligent, proactive and methodical with attention to details.
• Basic working knowledge of financial products and financial market processes.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience in using data visualization applications like Tableau and some experience in systems testing will be preferred.
